Ballyheigue Castle Golf Club, Kerry, IrelandBallyheigue Castle Golf Club is situated in the North County Kerry village of Ballyheigue and was designed and built around the ruins of Ballyheigue Castle. The first 9 holes were commissioned by Ballyheigue Development Association as part of a review and strategic development plan to lengthen the tourist season in their village, as well as providing a much needed local amenity. The golf course has subsequently gone into private ownership and the membership has grown significantly. Additional holes have been designed by Roger Jones and added to the golf course. In the near future it is proposed to carry out further work to extend the golf course to 18 holes. Prior to the opening of the golf course, during an inspection by the regional Golfing Union of Ireland [GUI] official, it was described as having 2 good holes and seven fantastic ones!  |
